Godzilla: Because Sometimes You Just Need to See a Giant Lizard Smash Things

I recently had the chance to watch the classic movie Godzilla on the TV show Svengoolie, and I have to say, it was an absolute blast. The film, which was originally released in 1954, was directed by Ishiro Honda and follows the story of a giant monster who emerges from the ocean and begins attacking cities. I have to say, I've never seen a city get destroyed so efficiently before!

One thing that really stood out to me about this movie was the special effects. For a film that was made nearly 70 years ago, the effects used to create Godzilla are truly impressive. The way the monster moves and destroys buildings is very believable, and it's clear that a lot of care and attention went into creating the creature. I mean, they even made Godzilla look like he's doing the "Monster Mash" while he's destroying buildings.

Another aspect of the movie that I really enjoyed was the commentary on the dangers of nuclear weapons. The film was made only a few years after the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and it's clear that the filmmakers wanted to convey a message about the devastating effects of atomic weapons. But let's be real, the real message was "Don't mess with giant radioactive lizards"

The franchise has become an iconic symbol of Japan and a cultural phenomenon worldwide. Overall, I highly recommend giving this classic film a watch, especially on the Svengoolie Show. It's a thrilling, thought-provoking and hilariously entertaining movie that still holds up today.
